  1. Previewed/reviewed Figures of Speech: Alliteration, Hyperbole,Onomatopoeia, Personification, Simile, & Metaphor.
  2. Collected Vocabulary Stories for The Tell Tale Heart.
  3. Visited the library to select a novel.

- Write three sentences for each figure of speech: Alliteration, Hyperbole, Onomatopoeia, Personification, Simile, & 
   Metaphor.  Total of eighteen sentences.
- Read 30 minutes. (Reading Logs will begin tomorrow.)

The Tell-Tale Heart Vocabulary

1.     Acute: sharp (thinking) , keen (intelligent), sharp pain

2.     Audacity: Bold courage, daring

3.     Awe: A mixed feeling of reverence, fear, and wonder

4.     Bade: Urged, compelled

5.     Concealment: A means of hiding

6.     Conceived: image, think of

7.     Crevice: gap, crack, opening

8.     Derision: Contempt, ridicule

9.     Dissimulation: Hidden under a false appearance

10. Distinctness: Unmistakable, clearly defined

11. Foresight: Thoughtful regard for the future

12. Gesticulate: gesture, motion with your hands

13. Hearkening: Giving careful attention

14. Over-acuteness: Very keen

15. Profound: deep, thoughtful, insightful

16. Reposed: To lay at rest

17. Sagacity: Sound judgment, wise

18. Stealthily: silently, sneakily, surreptitiously, slyly

19. Stifled: quieted, muffled, muted

20. Suavity: Gracefulness, politeness

21. Vehemently: heatedly, passionately, intensely

22. Vexed: Troubled, distressed, caused agitation, frustrated

23. Waned: To grow gradually less
